Payment Structure for Artists

How do Deep Sounds Artists get paid? When do they get their payouts?

Updated over a year ago

As an artist on our platform, you will be paid out in the following ways:

Single License Purchase

When a customer licenses your track without an unlimited plan or for a license outside the scope of their plan you will receive 50% of the payment after payment processing fees. Usually these fees can total up to 3-4% of the total purchase price.

Single License Purchases are paid out after 7-10 business days of purchase directly to your account.

Subscription Royalties

You will receive a monthly Subscription Royalty Earnings payout for having your tracks on our subscription service and meeting the minimum requirements listed below.

Subscription Royalties will be paid out on the first of every month and will be paid out on a 1-month delay. Example: Your January Subscription Royalties Earnings will be paid out on March 1st. Your payout will be transferred to the bank account you have linked in stripe in 2-3 business days from when it is posted to your account.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: You will only receive Subscription Royalties for each month as long as one of the following requirements is met:

  1. You submit and we approve a minimum of 1 track a month to the platform.

  2. An unlimited subscriber licenses at least 1 track from you using our unlimited subscription plans.

To play it safe, we strongly recommend you submit at least 1 track a month and recommend you do it earlier in the month to get credited for that month.

Even if you do not meet either of those requirements, you will still be paid out for every Single License Purchase that is purchased by users who do not have an unlimited subscription as outlined above.

Partial Subscription Purchase

In some cases, a user might purchase a track license using their unlimited subscription that does not fully cover the License Type. In this case they will have part of their license cost subsidized by their unlimited subscription plan but will also need to pay for the remainder of the cost.

You will be compensated in two different ways for this:

  • The value that was subsidized under their plan will be credited toward your monthly Subscription Royalty calculation for that month.

  • The remaining balance they had to pay extra for will be treated the same was as the Single License Purchase and split 50/50 after payment processing fees. (You will get your payout for this portion in 7-10 business days)

Content ID Royalties

You will receive a 50/50 split after 3rd party fees for all content ID royalties from your work being claimed and monetized on YouTube.

Payments will be made directly through the platform on the following schedule:

  • For Content ID royalties earned during the period January 1st to March 31st, payment shall be made on October 1st (Q1 Payment)

  • For Content ID royalties earned during the period April 1st to June 30th, payment shall be made on January 1st (Q2 Payment)

  • For Content ID royalties earned during the period July 1st to September 30th, payment shall be made on April 1st (Q3 Payment)

  • For Content ID royalties earned during the period October 1st to December 31st, payment shall be made on July 1st (Q4 Payment)

Please Note: Payouts will only be made if your earnings have reached the minimum threshold of $10. If your payout balance is less than $10, it will be paid out on the next respective Quarter Payment date once your Content ID Royalty earnings have crossed the minimum threshold.

If you've reached the minimum payout threshold but notice a pending payout that hasn't been processed yet, it's likely waiting for the payout date for earnings from that quarter. Rest assured, once the payout date arrives, these pending earnings will be included in your payout.

PRO Royalties

We are currently working on a system to help collect PRO publishing royalties on your behalf and act as your publishing administrator for any tracks you submit to deep sounds. It is coming soon.
