Releasing Copyright Claims on YouTube

Did you get a content ID copyright claim on YouTube? Heres how to get it cleared immediately.

Updated over a year ago

When you upload a video on YouTube that includes a Deep Sounds track, and your channel hasn't been whitelisted, you might receive a copyright claim on your video. But here's the deal: the reason you or your client will get a copyright claim is to prevent unauthorized use of our Artist's Music. However, since you've purchased a license, you'll have no trouble clearing it.

Rest assured, your video won't be removed, and you can still publish it on YouTube. The only catch is that you won't be able to monetize it until the claim is released.

But here's the good part: removing the copyright claim is a quick and straightforward process. So, no need to worry; we've got this!

If you are an active Deep Sounds Unlimited Music Subscriber, you can whitelist your channel and avoid having to deal with copyright claims.

Step 1: Head to Licenses Page

Head over to your Licenses page and find the license you purchased or generated for that project. Then click the "Content ID" tab and generate your code and copy it.

Please Note:

  • You will need to use the content ID code before it expires.

  • Once used to clear your YouTube copyright claim, your claim release will never expire.

  • If you didn't use the code and it expired, you can generate a new code.

Step 2: Login to your YouTube Channel

Then you log into your YouTube Channel, head over to YouTube Studio and click the Details button on the video.

You should see a Checks tab at the top. Click on it to get to that tab then click See Details.

Step 3: Dispute Claim

The next page will show you the details of the copyright claim. Click the Select Action button and click on Dispute.

Check off the box that says "My dispute isn't based on the reasons above..." and click Continue.

Check the option for "License" and click Continue.

Click the checkbox for "I have permission to use the content from the copyright owner."

Step 4: Paste Deep Sounds Content ID Code & Submit

Insert your Deep Sounds Content ID code for that license that you copied from Licenses page into that box.

Check off all the boxes below, sign your name, and then click Submit.

Your claim will be cleared automatically in just a few hours, and you'll receive an email notification from YouTube once it's all sorted out.

To make your experience even smoother and ensure you don't miss out on any monetization dollars, we suggest uploading your videos to YouTube a little ahead of your publication schedule. This way, you can handle any copyright claims while your video is still marked as private and in draft mode.
